Triple Threat

For the first time, Bridge City Autosports teams up with Northwest Autosports Association (NWAA) for the annual Triple Threat event – drag, drift, and autocross.
TBD, 2018
At triple threat, clubs and drivers from all over – autocross clubs, drift clubs, any car club – team together to compete in three different events: 1/8th mile drag race, autocross, and a drift course.

Each team must choose members to compete in each event. Not every team member is required to compete in all three events, but each must compete in at least two of the events to be scored. Each event will be scored separately, and then the event scores will be added together for each team.

— Rules —

Entry fee:
The entry fee for all participants is the same, regardless of how many events the individuals compete in. The entry fee will be announced closer to the date of the event.

Safety:
Cars must meet SCCA/NASA accepted safety standards. Passing tech inspection is subject to a safety officers discretion.
Just because the tech inspectors might miss something does NOT make that car acceptable. If an event officer notices something wrong, the car will be pulled and must re-pass tech inspection to correct it. This applies to all safety items and is EVERY competitors responsibility.

All participants must be over 18, or have a minor waiver signed by a legal guardian, It must be notarized, or that guardian must come to the event to sign the minor waiver. Drivers MUST be 16 or older and have a valid state driver’s license.

All spectators on site must sign a safety waiver and have a wristband if they wish to watch or ride along as a passenger.

Deliberate disregard for highway laws at ANY time during the weekend may be grounds for a team’s disqualification, this applies to all club members, racing or not. This could result in the loss of the event site.

Teams:
In order to keep confusion to a minimum, each club will have to select someone in advance to act as a team captain, this person will keep track of team members. Entry fees will be by pre-registration only. Team captains should have a record of team members.
The team captain should remain responsible for overseeing the conduct of ALL club members both at the site, and coming and going from the site. This needs to stay a safe, fun, and legal event; we need to make sure we conduct ourselves this way.
Your team captain is the ONLY person on your team allowed to speak for, or negotiate for your team. Teams will consist of a minimum: 4 drivers and 2 cars. There is no maximum size.

Participants designate their team at time of registration, they may change teams ONLY if that team fails to show up. This needs to be completed and decided by Friday of the event. Walk-ups may not be added to teams. You may compete in any or all of the events as an individual, “not on a team” you will be scored in the overall results, but ignored when computing team points.

All teams will have 3 digit numbers; the first digit will indicate the team you are running for (example: 1XX for NWAA, 2XX for BCA, 3XX for EESCC etc.) Numbers must be displayed on both sides of the car. On dual driver cars, only ONE number may be visible at a time (no crossing out numbers, unless the numbers are already permanently affixed to the car). Numbers must be at least 8 inches tall.

All participants will work during the events – shagging cones, watching spectators for safety, etc. This event is put on by BCA and NWAA, but it is ultimately the job of every participant to make it a success. There will be stations to be worked at, that will be assigned to each participant during the events. If you do not work, you do not drive.

There is no limit to team size – however, to qualify and score points for your team, each individual is required to run at least two of the three challenge events. In the event of a car failure, or emergency preventing you from completing your events, the next fastest qualified team member will be scored.

Acceleration test (Drag):
Drag will NOT be side by side – only one car at a time in a straight line. The course will be long enough to be interesting but short enough to stay within our insurance rules and safety considerations (1/8 mile is the goal). Individuals will be scored based on position in their class. The top three scores for each team will be used for final ranking.

Drifting:
Each drift competitor will be scored by a panel of designated judges. The top three scores from each team will be used in final ranking.

For safety reasons, only rear wheel drive vehicles will be allowed to participate in the drift event.

NITROUS MUST BE REMOVED or CONFIRMED DISCONNECTED prior to competing. All cars must pass tech. Any car equipped with No2 must declare that at tech inspection, so we can confirm it is disconnected for drift and AX, failure to do so will result in DQ and loss of all points by that car.

Autocross:
Cars will be assigned to several basic classes. Points will be awarded based on position in your class, and the top three scores from each team will be used for final ranking. It is the competitors responsibility to properly class his or her car, this must be done during registering. This is important so we can complete run groups, and score correctly. Mis-classed cars may be disqualified upon discretion of event officers.

Dual drivers:
Dual drivers will be split between run groups, and must be designated in advance. Car substitutions are allowed at our discretion in the event of a failure, but the substituted or borrowed car must be of an equal or lower class than your own, and will be scored in your ORIGINAL class. Borrowed cars MUST have been teched and approved for the event in advance. And borrowing the car cannot put it above the 2 driver limit.
